Pursuing an International Education
Lifestyle adjustments during your international education
How do I open a bank account for the period of my international education?
You will need a letter from the College in order to open a bank account. We will give you this letter during the Induction and Registration events.
Where can I buy a mobile phone?
While studying towards your international education you are going to want to remain connected. We will give you a free SIM card for your mobile phone during the Induction and Registration day events. This will provide you with a phone number and access to a network, but you will still need to pay for credit in order to use the phone.
Should I register with the police during my international education?
Registration with the police takes place during the Induction and Registration events. If you miss induction the Student Services Office will provide you with full details on how to register.
How do I register with a doctor?
It is essential that you register with a local doctor. We will help you to arrange this during the Induction and Registration events. You will be able to register free of charge at the health centre on campus.
Does the College arrange time off to observe festivals like Eid and Chinese New Year?
Our courses require a very high level of academic commitment all year round in order to ensure your successful progression during your international education. We therefore ask you to attend classes during these festivals.
During my international education where can I practise my faith?
While pursuing your international education you may wish to practice your faith. The college is located in a large, multicultural city with many places to worship. The Student Services Office will be able to advise you on the location of the nearest place of worship to your hall of residence or the College.
What extra curricular activities are available at College?
You will have full access to a wide range of societies and clubs available at our partner university during your international education. In addition, the College also arranges social events throughout your studies. Typically, this would be city tours, ice-skating, ten-pin bowling and visits to other cities in the UK.
What are the arrangements for disabled students?
If you have a disability, or chronic medical or mental health condition, please contact us to arrange a pre-application visit to the College. It will help you to understand the resources that the College and the university can offer you throughout your international education.
